Everything falls to pieces when the Lander Selah catches is stolen by her brothers--and Selah wakes up the next morning to find the Lander's distinctive mark has suddenly appeared on her own flesh. Once the hunter, Selah is now one of the hunted, and she knows only one person who can help her--Bohdi Locke, the Lander her brothers hope to sell.
With evocative descriptions of a strange new world that combines elements of scientific advances, political intrigue, and wilderness survival, Bonnie S. Calhoun weaves a captivating tale of a world more like our own than we may want to admit.
My Review: Oh my goodness! I sooo enjoyed this book! I have never read anything by Bonnie Calhoun before. I read the description in a list a reviewing program sent me. I really didn’t want to get any more books since I don’t have time to read anymore. However, it sounded so intriguing that I got it anyway. I’m so glad I did!
I was expecting this book to be set in the author’s own fantasy world. However, her world is our world 150 years in the future after America has been destroyed from warfare and bombs. The way she wrote was extremely intelligent as well as supremely creative. The characters were each unique, with definite flaws and strengths. I liked Selah, who was simultaneously strong and weak. I saw a bit of character fluctuation in the beginning, but it may have been just that she was a dynamic character and developing throughout.
Bodhi was an extremely interesting character. His selfishness made me almost dislike him at the start. However, he developed throughout the book. He became Selah’s protector. But, even after reading the book, Bodhi remains somewhat of a mystery.
Thunder was a very interesting, intelligent book. I cannot wait to read the next one! Even though I hardly have time to read anymore, I will make time to read this series when the next books come out.
The only thing negative book Thunder would be that it dragged a bit near the middle, when all the characters were in one place and didn’t seem to be going anywhere for a while. However, it didn’t last very long. There was a lot of action the last couple chapters.
I give Thunder 4 out of 5 stars.
