Tessa Afshar’s characters were wonderfully developed and realistic. I fell in love with Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz. The minor characters were also very well developed and intriguing. The flaws in the main characters (as well as some of the minor characters) were each addressed with and dealt with. I was really impressed with how the author handled each situation.
The way the author stated words sometimes made me just stop and reread what I had just read. Sometimes I even read it three times through because it was just so beautiful. The very beginning of the book grabbed my attention and even my emotion. Sometimes the heartache the characters experienced made me almost feel what they were feeling.
I believe Tessa Afshar should stick with writing in third person. It definitely works better for her. I can’t wait for her next book! I will definitely be reading it!
I give In the Field of Grace 41/2 out of 5 stars.
